The frequent power cuts have disrupted their studies to an extent.Frequent power cuts in Bhaderwah and other parts of Doda and Kishtwar have become a major source of worry for students who have been preparing for annual examinations, including the high and higher secondary school exam .People from different areas of the district said that the unscheduled power cuts made students suffer as class 10 and 12 examinations are going on and lack of power supply to homes forces students to use candles and lanterns to prepare for examinations.Daytime and evening time load sheddings lasting as long as hours, in different areas of the erstwhile Doda district, has been a daily affair for a while."The power cuts have been affecting the study of my son who is now appearing for the matric examination," said Naseer Mehboob president Youth Action Committee and a resident of Bhaderwah area in the town."We are very concerned about the unscheduled power cuts, even during examination time," said Mohd Iqbal Balwan Chairperson Doda Welfare Society and a resident of Doda . "When there is no power cut officially, it is very unfortunate that there are such load-sheddings," he said.In rural areas, alleged Balwan , the power cuts persist for longer hours.“We do not receive proper power supply as per schedule and frequent power cuts have become a daily affair. Remember that there are three big power projects working in our area and people are living under transmission lines and towers, but are without power,” Mudasir Anger , a student leader of Kishtwar said.He said that children were unable to study properly in absence of electricity. “Students also need to use internet, but we can’t charge our computer batteries,” he said.He said despite paying huge electric bills department failed to provide sufficient electricity “We are regularly paying our electricity bills, but fed up with PDD,”It is notable to mention here that the worst are those who are appearing in their matriculation examinations .Guardian said that matriculation is the first major examination in the life of a student and the frequent power cuts have affected the composure of their ward. Others said that students were a worried lot as the disruption was prolonged for nearly an hour. The commence of winter is also denting the spirits of these students and now with the power cuts their efforts have been dealt a collateral blow, which has earned severe criticism from the parents and guardians.
